Why is church health so important?

Because there is a direct correlation between the health of the church and the success of the mission.  Right before Jesus ascended into Heaven, he gave His followers the great mission to make disciples of all nations (Matthew 28:19).   All of us in leadership desire success in this mission.  Here’s how it works:

Dr. Steve Patrick

Founder/CEO, ChurchHealth180

Dr. Steve is a passionate leader with a deep commitment to the local church. In his current role as founder and CEO of ChurchHealth180, he brings with him 41 years of church ministry experience. This experience includes 33 years as a Lead Pastor, most recently at Grace Church in Gladstone, Michigan. During his tenure, Grace transitioned from a small town church to a large regional ministry positioned for significant impact in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. In addition to his commitment to God’s Word and prayer, he placed intentional focus on leadership mentoring, visioning, overhaul of structures and systems, and clear strategic plans for ministry. He provided leadership in creating a church culture in which spiritual growth and systemic change went hand-in-hand. Within an increasingly healthy environment the congregation bore witness to God’s amazing work of transforming lives. Upon completion of his ministry at Grace Church, Steve was invited to join the leadership team of Converge Great Lakes where he was given oversight responsibility for the strengthening of over 120 churches throughout Wisconsin and Upper Michigan. In that role he focused on leadership development, mentoring, church health assessments, visioning and strategic planning, crisis intervention, and consulting with those seeking to take their church to the next level.  Most recently, Steve led an established church through a successful 18-month restart here in Dayton, Ohio.

Steve and his wife Gayle, have been married for 50 years and have two children and eight grandchildren. In this new season of his life and ministry, he counts it a wonderful blessing to be able to live close to his family and to invest more fully in their lives. Travel, tennis and gardening also find their place in his life. But, at the core of his being is his personal relationship with Jesus Christ. His conversion to Christ took place at the age of ten while attending Bible Camp. At the age of 22, while serving in the U.S. Navy, he sensed God’s call to ministry. It’s been a way of life ever since.
